Seraphin Mulumba
Chairmen
Born in the city of Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Seraphin's life is an extraordinary saga of survival and ambition. His early life in his homeland was abruptly altered when political turmoil, including his own kidnapping from a role as bodyguard for an opposing political party with then president of the UDPS, Etienne Tshisekedi Wa Mulumba. This forced him and his wife Nicole to seek refuge elsewhere. Their path led them to Angola where they relied solely on their own resources and later to a refugee camp in Namibia. Having endured over 20 years as a refugee, Seraphin's arduous journey brought him to the United States where, through diligent work, he achieved his version of the American dream and provided for his family. However, he remains deeply connected to his past struggles. His firsthand experience of hardship motivates Seraphin to generously give back, donating annually to impoverished families and those in the refugee camps he knows all too well. Seraphin has not forgotten what it means to suffer and survive with little. His annual donations demonstrate his compassion and ongoing commitment to helping others still trapped in the plight he himself escaped.
